You can do business but not work. Basically not getting paid with a "work contract" even if part time by a Chinese entity. You can invoice with your foreign entities to international clients and do business visits / etc.

Hey guys, I spent 1 month in China 2025. And it was an absolute disaster to have good internet for work.

Best place I could work was at Starbucks, but they only accept Chinese phone numbers to have the OTP and I was always relying on some attendant to help with.. some of them denied to receive the code at their number..

I’ve been told a lot that Rednote and WeChat are good ways to meet people. They have “English corner” activities frequently, which are public events you can go to for locals/tourists/expats to all mingle (and do a language exchange thing for the Chinese people to practice English and foreigners to practice Chinese). I’ve gone to some of them and they’ve been cool. Like 95% Chinese so far

There’s also this thing called 搭子 where you make a post on rednote about what you’re interested in and finding people to hang out with. “I want a 搭子 or group of 搭子 to work out with at the gym” type of thing. I just made my own 搭子 post so I’m hoping people actually see it lol. Marking ur location on the post makes it much easier for people nearby to you ofc

you need vpn with modern protocol (vless, trojan, shadowsocks). But speed and reliability could depend on you location and provider

Or you can buy esim on trip.com with singapore ip/roaming, not hong kong / macau one.

So I'm in Yabuli. Have been skiing last 2 days - my first time skiing!

Only $20 to ski for 3 hours inlcuding all ski equipment.

Tomorrow I will go for the full pass of the whole resort to ski all runs. This is $57 for the whole day, including all equipment.

Has been amazing so far but I'm only a beginner so I can't give much opinion on how good it is! haha

Yeah, ski rent prices are surprisingly fine

I am in Thaiwoo right now, close to chongli area. Resort is nice, not the biggest but snowpark is good one. It has features for every level

$40 for 4 hours
$57 for a day
$87 for 2 days

I went on a pretty cool Architectural walking tour with this Chinese dude that spoke decent English. Took me all over town to look at the "weird buildings" (lobby starts on 38th floor, etc). Was cool. Can connect you if you have WeChat. CQ gets old after a few days.

Just spent a month there. Apartments are a mixed bag. Nanshan (Talent Park station) and Shekou are the most livable hoods. Anywhere near the water/cycle path is ideal. OCT Loft area nice as well. Didi is cheap and plentiful so no need to be right next to a station. There's a 30 minute ferry to HK airport from Shekou with literally zero people at customs so it's easy for foreigners to fly in and out without ever going to HK. Bao'an airport 30 min taxi from Shekou/Nanshan as well.
