Hey guys, I have been thinking to move to Cyprus, currently based in Dubai, and wanted something more down to earth, chill and better quality of friends. Are they many meet ups in Cyprus and which would be the best city to check out as a late 30s nomad?

If you have some experience here, would love to chat with you and get your feedback. And at the same time if you have any other about Dubai, I am happy to answer them too

It's the main holiday season in Europe. So hotels and AirBnBs are flooded.
Long term rentals in Cyprus means 1 year+ renting. Very hard to find shorter stays, but possible. FB marketplace is your best bet probably.

In Cyprus you can make some good quality friends as locals are very nice, but forget about meetups or a digital nomad scene. Best bet is meeting people at coworking spaces that are here for the tax benefits

CYSAE are very skilled and reliable but not the cheapest and they nickel and dime you for every single thing it gets pretty annoying

Forget about anything remotely affordable until October or so in the beachside towns. If you want to go to Nicosia should be fine though

Latin dancing scene and tennis/padel scene is pretty good too, if you are into it. Locals are usually awesome in my experience.

I concur, Nicosia is pretty much the same all year round. Good place to look is Facebook marketplace and bazaraki (website and app). You can negotiate down a bit, maybe 5%-15% of the asking price

Hey everyone, I've been in Paphos for two days now and all I hear are super loud cicadas all day long. Is this normal for the summer, or is my Airbnb just poorly insulated? Are there any quieter neighborhoods where the noise isn't as intense?

that sound is actually beaitiful. It should calm down in a few weeks, I think their “season” is from May to August. Any neighborhood that has some trees/greenery wll have them, unless you want to find someplace where you are surrounded by concrete

Most of September, AC is quite mandatory at home, at least to me, but outside is great, especially by the sea. My favorite time is between mid September to end of October.
