I've found stuff mentioning printing my tourist invitation letter but nothing clear about onward journeys.

Just in case, right before going to the airport buy a return ticket on Expedia.com, it has 24hs free cancellation so you can cancel it for free after you pass the control. I don’t know about russia but I’ve done that many times in many countries.

It’s tricky. Different networks and providers block different ways to access the internet. You better set up as many as you can

Mobile internet providers filter all known VPN protocols via DPI (same as in China).

You need a VPN based on XRay protocol or similar.

Anyone know how difficult it is to find a job in the IT (1st lvl in support) when speaking no Russian but English and German? And also is it addordable then for living costs?

FWIW: I can not speak on getting employment but as for Russians speaking English, unless you are in a major city like Moscow, SPB or Yekaterinburg you will have difficulty. Most are schooled in English at a very young age and consider it a hurdle to jump rather than a future skill set. As for costs... I live rather modest (clean food and no booze) and not alone so my monthly is around 1K USD per month with ALL expenses for two people.
